I know what it feels like to search for answers

I’m Carla Conradie, the founder of Gut Healing Revolution.

My passion for nutrition and healthy living has been part of my life for many years, but Gut Healing Revolution was not born from professional interest alone. It grew from my own family’s experience of illness, uncertainty and the relentless search for answers.

My journey began when my son struggled with reflux, eczema, allergies and food intolerances from birth. As a mother, it was heartbreaking to watch him suffer without fully understanding why.

Because I was breastfeeding, I began removing foods from my own diet while researching the possible causes behind his symptoms. I read, observed and recorded everything I could. Gradually, I began to understand that his symptoms were not isolated problems. They were signals that something deeper required attention.

As we made changes to his nutrition and daily environment, his reflux settled, his eczema resolved, his allergies reduced and his overall health began to improve.

That experience opened my eyes to the profound influence the gut can have on the rest of the body. But I did not yet realise that my own health was about to take me even deeper.

When my own body could no longer be ignored

For years, I had lived with digestive symptoms that were easy to explain away.

Abdominal discomfort, fatigue, weight changes, skin problems and other symptoms gradually became part of everyday life. Like so many women, I adapted. I kept going, looked after my family and accepted feeling unwell as something I simply had to manage.

Then I discovered blood in my stool.

That was the moment I knew I could no longer dismiss what my body was trying to tell me.

Further investigations led to multiple diagnoses, including Helicobacter pylori infection, a stomach ulcer, gastritis and Crohn’s disease. I also experienced significant weight loss, hair loss, eczema, exhaustion and a persistent burning sensation in my stomach.

I underwent antibiotic treatment for H. pylori, but my symptoms continued. A later attempt at treatment resulted in such a severe flare that I was unable to complete it.

I sought help from doctors, specialists and complementary health practitioners, yet I was still left with questions. I had individual diagnoses, but I did not feel that anyone was stepping back to look at the full picture.

I didn’t want to spend the rest of my life simply managing one symptom after another. I wanted to understand why my body had reached this point.

Choosing to ask a different question

Instead of only asking, “How do I make this symptom go away?” I began asking:

“What is my body trying to tell me?”

I immersed myself in learning about digestion, the gut microbiome, inflammation, hormones, stress, nutrition and the everyday factors that influence our wellbeing.

I examined my food choices, routines, stress levels and lifestyle. I began nourishing my body more intentionally and introduced targeted changes.

Most importantly, I prayed.

In one of the most frightening and uncertain seasons of my life, my faith became my foundation. I asked God for healing, wisdom and the strength to keep going. I believe He guided me in a new direction, one that would eventually transform not only my health, but also my purpose.

Within weeks, I began noticing meaningful improvements. I continued following my personalised approach over the months that followed.

Later investigations brought the news I had prayed for: I tested negative for H. pylori, my ulcer had healed and the gastritis was resolving.

My healing did not come from one miracle food, supplement or quick fix. It came through prayer, learning, medical investigation, careful observation and consistent changes that addressed my body as a whole.

What I believe

hand on diary with herbal tea and salad in kitchen

Healing requires us to look beyond food alone. Nutrition matters deeply, but so do stress, sleep, movement, emotional wellbeing, nervous-system regulation, lifestyle, environment and personal history. Most of all, I believe that common does not always mean normal.

My Mission

consultation with two women

To help women stop living in constant reaction to their symptoms and begin understanding what their bodies may need. This is not about perfection, restriction. It is about helping you connect the dots, identify patterns and take meaningful steps that that fit into your life.

My Vision

women walking wind blowing through hair

For Gut Healing Revolution to become a trusted place where women feel heard, supported and equipped.

I want women to understand their bodies before symptoms dictate their lives. You are not failing. Your body is communicating with you.

My Vision

Your story matters too

Your journey will not look exactly like mine, and it should not.

There is no single diet, supplement or protocol that is right for everyone. Your health history, symptoms, lifestyle, stressors and needs are uniquely yours.

But healing often begins with one important decision:

To stop dismissing the way you feel as “normal” and start becoming curious about what your body is telling you.
